Established on May 7, 2018, Charter Number: 89257
The Rotary Club of Mangalore City, established in 2018, has emerged as a vibrant and dynamic force within Rotary District 3181. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mangalore, the club is rooted in Rotary’s core values of service, integrity, leadership, and fellowship. With a committed membership of 30 dedicated Rotarians, the club actively undertakes impactful service initiatives that benefit the community and foster lasting relationships.
Among its notable initiatives is “Save A Life – Basic Life Support Training,” a program designed to equip individuals in the community with essential life-saving skills. This initiative has significantly improved emergency preparedness and is well-documented through impactful photos and videos that reflect the enthusiasm and commitment of the members. The club has also implemented important District Grant projects, including the complete renovation of a government school’s electrical system, enhancing infrastructure and safety for students.
A major milestone was achieved during the term of Rtn. Canute Pinto as President, when the club initiated a Global Grant project worth Rs.34 lakhs at District Lady Goschen Hospital, focusing on maternal and child health. The club has also contributed to environmental sustainability through the development of a DDF-supported Miyawaki Garden, reinforcing its commitment to creating greener and healthier spaces.
The club proudly stands first in the district in per capita giving to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), with an impressive average of $350 per member—a reflection of the members’ deep-rooted commitment to Rotary’s global humanitarian mission. In recognition of its exemplary service and high-impact initiatives, the Rotary Club of Mangalore City was honored with the Global Excellence Award in the Medium Club Category during the Rotary year 2024–25.

In addition to its service initiatives, the club has successfully hosted two major District events, including the most recent District Awards and Assembly, which were widely appreciated for their organization, participation, and impact. The club also communicates effectively with its members and the public through its weekly digital magazine, “City Bits & Bytes,” which captures project highlights, member contributions, and the vibrant spirit of the club.
The club maintains an official website https://rcmangalorecity.rotaryindia.org/, serving as a comprehensive platform for project updates, membership details, and community engagement. While the club does not yet sponsor a Rotaract or Interact Club, it remains enthusiastic about exploring opportunities to empower youth through future partnerships.
